Sugar Bowl Ski Trip (1st day)

Most people never think they can ski in sunny California. But actually there are many ski resorts around high Sierra Nevada mountains. The area around Lake Tahoe is one of big ski areas in the U.S. The area consists of more than 10 ski resorts surrounding Lake Tahoe which is at 2500m elevation and each resort is not small.

Sugar Bowl ski resort is one of the oldest ski resorts which is located northwest of the Lake Tahoe. One of my friends was renting a cabin near the ski resort to enjoy comfortable weekends. She allowed us to stay at the cabin for our ski trip. We went skiing there with 6 people including her.

Let's get started!
It takes about 4 hours from San Francisco Bay area to Lake Tahoe. We left our home around 5am so that we could start skiing when the ski lifts started operation. But, we arrived at Sugar Bowl a little late. We missed the correct highway exit and had to return.

Anyhow, the weather was nice. Sunshine made the snowy mountains very bright and motivated our appetite for skiing.

This is a lunch time picture.
Snow reflects sunshine and it is very bright. It was crowded that afternoon.

This picture is at a top of one of the mountains. There are three mountains we can reach each top by a ski lift.

At the basepoint
It was still bright even after 5pm. No clouds, calm winds, and good powder snow. These very good conditions attracted many skiers and snowboarders.
Exhausted! But comfortable tiredness...
Thank you for a good day...
