I woke up feeling good. I still felt slightly heavy in my head but it was not a big deal.

The left picture is the view of the Whitney summit from the camping site. Almost everyday was sunny in California. |

A color of the pond varies with prismatic radiance as the direction of the sunhine changes. That made me bring my camera. |

I had a slow breakfast because going down to the bottom was the only thing I did on the day. As soon as I opened my food packs, wild animals showed up and roamed around me. They were so shameless that I no longer thought they were cute. I have never seen such animals in Japan. |

I started going down on a stone trail along with a narrow stream. It was comfortable. |

I could see the lasting trail below and a basin beyond. |
The flowers I saw sometimes looked similar to ones in Japanese high mountains. I guess they should be slightly different from Japanese species. |

There was a viewpoint beside the road on the way back. The view was like a scene in the painted picture. The white line in the picture is a road toward to Lone Pine. I encountered an old gentleman who was waiting for his wife. She had been in mountains for more than one month to walk through very long John Muir Trail from Yosemite National Park to Mt. Whitney after she had brought up necesarry foods at certain points on the trail before starting trekking. I thought I also wanted to walk after my retirement. |
After that, I had lunch at a hamburger shop in Lone Pine and checked in a motel. I decided to drive to Death Valley using ample time after finishing the mountaineering trip.
